Slow Speed (ISO 10) Orthochromatic Kodalith style Film. Maximum contrast for masks or special effects in Camera or Enlarger. Red Safelight OK. Can be processed in standard B & W paper developer or A & B developer for higher contrast. Used by many photographers for use in creating highlight masks for fine art printing and for creating enlarged negatives, in a two-step process, for contact printing and alternative processes. Extremely high contrast, orthochromatic (NOT panchromatic) film originally designed primarily for making line and halftone negatives for photomechanical reproduction and can be utilized as a continuous tone film, dependent upon handling, development, Etc..
Wide exposure and development latitude.
Produces sharp halftone dots suitable for dot etching.
Can be used in professional applications for copying line originals, for
producing negative slides from line copy (e.g., title slides), and for special
Can also be used for making highlight masks to improve the reproduction of
important highlight detail when making duplicates from transparencies or color
prints by the dye transfer process.
Continuous tone applications
a KODAK 1A Safelight Type Filter/light red or the equivalent, in a suitable
safelight lamp equipped with a 15-watt bulb. Keep the film at least 4 feet (1.2
meters) from the safelight. Avoid prolonged exposure to safelight illumination.
/ ASA 8 – 10 for general halftone works (Developing in
an A & B Type Developer)
ASA 10– 25 when shooting continuous tone (Common
